Microsoft Outlook Express


1. Open Outlook Express or Outlook 98/2000.
2. From the Tools menu, select Accounts. The Internet Accounts box appears.
3. Select the Mail tab.
4. Select your email account and click the Properties button.
5. Select the Servers tab.
6. Locate the Outgoing Mail Server section.
7. Check the box "My server requires authentication".
8. Click the "Settings.." button. The Outgoing Mail Server box appears.
9. Click the circle-button "Log on using"
10. Enter your email address, and then enter the password for your email account.
11. Check the box Remember password.
12. Click OK to close the Outgoing Mail server box
13. Click OK to close the Properties box.
14. Click the Close button to close the Internet Accounts box.
15. SMTP authentication has now been enabled.
 
Microsoft Outlook 2007


1. Open Outlook 2007
2. From the Tools menu select Account Settings. The Account Settings box appears.
3. Verify that the E-mail tab is selected. Your email account appears
4. Click on the account to highlight it, and click on the Change icon above it.
5. Click the button More Settings... in the lower right-hand corner.
6. Click on the tab Outgoing Server.
7. Click the check box My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
8. Verify that the circle-box Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
9. Click OK to close the Internet Email Settings box.
10. Click the Finish button to close the Internet E-mail Settings box.
11. Click the Close button to close the Account Settings box.
 

Windows Mail


1. Open Windows Mail.
2. From the Tools menu select Accounts. The Internet Accounts box appears.
3. Click your account to highlight it.
4. Click the Properties button on the right.
5. Select the Servers tab.
6. Locate the Outgoing Mail Server section.
7. Check the box My server requires authentication.
8. Click OK to close the Properties box.
9. Click the Close button. SMTP authentication has now been enabled.
 

Mac Mail


1. Open MAIL.
2. From the MAIL menu, select Preferences.
3. Select the Accounts icon.
4. Click on your email account under the Description heading.
5. Click on the Edit button on the right. The Account Information appears.
6. Place a check mark in the "Use Authentication when sending mail" box.
7. Use your full email address and password for SMTP User and SMTP Password.
8. Click OK
9. Close the Mail Preferences window.
 
Eudora 5 and 6


1. Open Eudora version 5 or version 6.
2. From the Tools menu select Options. The Options box appears.
3. In the Category box on the left select the icon Sending Mail.
4. In the box marked SMTP server enter smtp.arctic.net
5. Verify that the check-box Allow authentication is checked.
6. Click OK. SMTP authentication has now been enabled.
 
Mozilla Thunderbird


1. Open Thunderbird Mail.
2. From the Tools menu select Account Settings. The Account Settings box appears.
3. In the white area on the left, select the entry Outgoing Server (SMTP).
4. The Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings appear on the right.
5. Verify that the Use name and password box is checked.
6. Click on the box to check it, if it is not checked.
7. In the User Name box enter your email address.
8. Click the OK button on the bottom. Authentication has now been enabled.
9. You will be prompted for your password the first time that you send email.
10. Be sure to check the box Use Password Manager to remember the password.
